MVCC Phi Theta Kappa Spring Induction Ceremony
David Beck was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa international honor society at Mohawk Valley Community College in a ceremony held on campus on Thursday, January 29th.
Phi Theta Kappa is the official Honor Society for two year colleges and is open to students whose grade point average is 3.5 or above. The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa provides opportunities for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.
Speakers during the ceremony included Dr. Randall VanWagoner, MVCC President, Dr. Maryrose Eannace, Vice President, and Dean Lew Kahler. Hallmark updates were given by current Phi Theta Kappa officers and the formal induction was completed by Amy LaLone, Chapter President, who lead the Oath of Membership.
David started his studies during the spring semester of 2014 and is currently maintaining a 3.86 grade point average.
